We All Want It!
Let’s find it, share, it, be it, whatever it takes- for a much much much much much better & brighter New Year!!!
I painted Nervous Bear, a sort of self portrait, about 25 years ago. He made it into a NYC group show at a gallery down on Vandam Street.
I almost sold him. I refused to lower my price, I think because I really didn’t want to live without him.
I painted a similar custom one for my friend, Graham, for so little $ that he actually gave me more than I’d asked. That’s a kind friend.
My favorite thing about my apartment, besides the wood floors, is this archway. It makes me incredibly happy. I moved here, to Ditmas Park from Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, almost 3 years ago.
During this Covid period, I’ve been particularly grateful to live in a place where I can work and be comfortable.
These New Yorkers will be read. They will. I’m not kidding. This is real. I mean it.
I visit my mom in my hometown of Richmond, Va when it’s possible. The Fan, a downtown district near my old school, VCU, remains my favorite area.
This painting was inspired by some of the townhouses down there. There’s a lot of charm to the mix of architectural styles in Richmond.
Lena hasn’t noticed what a strange year it’s been. She lives in a bubble, and she’s unapologetic.
I respect that.
Cheers to a promising 2021!
