Hello

I’m a painter and illustrator who’s drawn to sweet subject matter, particularly animals, quiet scenes and pretty patterns. I think nostalgia runs through much of my work, a sense or memory of the best parts of childhood— exploring outside, riding your bike, drawing and laughing with friends, feeling cozy in bed while someone reads you a story. I hope my paintings reflect back some of that magic and delight. I’ve been influenced by travel, architecture and walks around my favorite neighborhoods. I also love interior design. I did some set decorating on independent films before joining my union, Local 829, as a scenic artist. I worked in the film industry for over 20 years, while creating my own art and doing custom wall murals for children’s rooms. More recently, I license art and designs to companies for home decor and paper goods. My work is hand painted using water based acrylics on wood panels, sometimes paper. I sell my original paintings and take custom commissions.

I grew up in Richmond, Va. and I stayed to attend VCU, where I received a BFA in Communication Arts & Design. I did live on campus, however! I visited New York City with my mom every year as a teenager. We saw lots of great theater and unforgettable exhibitions. We ate at our favorite restaurants and walked all over that iconic city! I fell in love with the culture, the energy, the excitement of it and I moved there when I was 23. I studied Studio Art at NYU and received my MA. I also made some of my closest friends, who remain like family to me. I lived in the East Village before moving to Brooklyn, back when it was less expensive than the city. I stayed for many years. Part of my heart remains in both Richmond and NYC. But, in the winter of 2023, I moved to Philadelphia! I love my neighborhood of West Mt Airy. It’s full of pretty gardens reminiscent of quaint English villages and I can walk to several cafes, bars and restaurants, which is important to me. I enjoy exploring this historic city and all the charm it has to offer.
