Valentine's Day is Sunday! Whether you plan to celebrate romantic love, like these two, your friendships or yourself, I hope chocolates are involved.
Here is some new work for 2106. You can see these on other pages of my site, but I thought I'd share some favorites in my post today. I've been feeling really inspired to work lately. I love painting portraits, cars and florals. I've enjoyed doing some more simplified paintings with a limited palette, too. I'm more interested in creating wallpaper and fabric design than ever.
I've fallen in love with vintage British Pathé films on printmaking. The Art of Wonderment on Facebook, shares them on a pretty regular basis :)
I love vintage sports cars and since I can't afford one, I've started to paint some. This is a 1957 400 Vespa mini.
I made this painting, below, as part of the #12monthsofpaint project, hosted by Jennifer Orkin Lewis (August Wren), Meighan O'Toole, Courtney Cerruti and Erika Lee Sears on Instagram. Anyone can participate and follow monthly prompts - The theme for January was blue. The portrait I did, above, was for February's theme, portrait. It's a fun way to get a bit of direction when you don't have a pressing deadline. So far, this year, I'm trying to stick to doing commercials (my job- painting sets in the film/TV business) because I can do it on more of a freelance basis. Also, the year tends to start slowly for TV, for which I do a fair amount of work. I miss my friends who are currently finishing up the season of Showtime's "Power". But, I'm sure I'll work with, at least, a few of them this Spring.
These are part of my kids room art collections. I was inspired to create them for a company with whom I'd really like to work. I'm getting closer. I'll alert you all when it happens! How do you like my positivity :)
Enjoy your weekend and thanks for taking a look today! I appreciate it. xo, A
