I love shoes and I finally allowed myself to paint some. I know that sounds silly, but I've resisted the urge, because I'm aware of how often shoe illustrations draw comparisons to Andy Warhol's iconic and delightful series. They're fun to draw. Most of these are variations on some faves from one of my Pinterest boards. I took liberties, of course, particularly with all the candy colors. I really think this would make cute gift wrap. Hope someone else out there thinks so, too!
I've also gone back to painting faces. I've named these ladies according to the lip shade I've decided each is wearing. Yes, I am a lipstick fan! I got it from my mom, but have far too many shades of reds and plums for anyone to truly notice a difference. I've alternated between MAC, Chanel, Clinique and NARS for many years. Currently, I wear Urban Decay. Although, in the daytime, I tend to stick with a simple gloss/shimmer/treatment... by Burt's Bees, Clinique & Fresh. Bolder colors can look a bit out of place when you're painting sets on a dusty stage or working from home. I will apply something before any food delivery arrives, however ;)
I think these two look related or maybe the top one is a portrait of this woman as a young girl. I imagine she is a performer of some type, probably because she reminds me of Maria Callas.
I didn't set out to paint a young Angelica Huston, but that's who she resembles to me.
Below, is a small selection of patterns I made using the layout app for Instagram. I have a tendency to get a little addicted to things.
I've also been enjoying Flipagram a great deal. You can see some of my flipping videos here :D
